Tell AZ’s Maricopa County Recorder: We want a fair election system!

Over 400,000 Maricopa County voters, who total over 60% of the entire state electorate, have not had their votes counted.   This, along with hundreds of accounts of irregularities and problems at the polls, from long lines to voters being turned away, is outrageous.  This cannot be tolerated.

According to various sources, there are anywhere from 75,000 to 480,000 early ballots and provisional ballots that have not been counted.

With the vote difference between candidates in both the U.S. Senate race and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s race under 90,000, these votes could make a difference in the election.  If only they were counted.

Dear County Recorder Helen Purcell,

As Americans, we believe in a fair election system we can trust.

Throughout Election Day on November 6th, at polling locations across Maricopa County, voters were denied their legitimate access to vote and were forced to vote with provisional ballots.

We request a full accounting of all uncounted ballots by next Tuesday, November 13, including the precinct location and Party affiliation of the ballots.

We request that there be a through investigation of the problems encountered by voters on Election Day, in full cooperation with the Department of Justice

It is your duty Mrs. Purcell to count all of your constituents. This is a pivitol moment where you can choose to do good and seek truth or give into fear. Please do the right thing.

I am deeply troubled after hearing an interview with Helen Purcell, Maricopa County recorder, on 11/7 CBS six oclock local news. I moved to Arizona in July and registered to vote by mail because I was told that my vote would be counted prior to election night and I dropped off my ballot at the early polling place. Ms Purcel now states that 452k early and provisional votes ( newly registered voters) went uncounted, yet elections were called. Poll workers report that they were not prepared for the volume. This, in my opinion, smells of malfeasance on the part of the Voter registrar and recorder. It is at best incompetence. This insult to democracy was amplified by Ms Purcell’s nonchalant attitude and obfusive answers during the interview tonight. She seemed defensive when asked why nearly half a million Maricopa County voters had been disenfranchised. This is unacceptable.

There must be an investigation into this situation immediately. The public officials responsible for this, including and especially Ms Purcell need to be replaced if they cannot or will not conduct efficient and fair elections.

All votes must be counted by 11/16/12

Voted as provisional even though I registered on time and in the correct district. Oddly enough, all of the people in that provisional line with me were minorities…. SUSPECT! MY VOTE COUNTS!
